Mountain Dew was not banned in the UK, it was simply pulled from sale because "sales were not as great as anticipated". It was available from around 1996-1998 in most supermarkets, convenience stores and Pepsi vending machines. The American version of Mountain Dew does contain one ingredient that is banned in the UK (brominated vegetable oil) but the version sold here simply did not contain the offending item.

I read this somewhere on an internet forum and i find this very hard to believe. I seriously doubt that Pepsi (one of Coke Cola's main rival) would give away one of its most profitable and successful brands solely in the UK. I am so convinced that this isn't true that I am tempted to just give the answer as "no", but until someone can find me some conclusive evidence that Coke Cola did produce it in the UK, i'll leave my answer as 99.9% "no".

Mountain Dew is widely available throughout America, Canada, Australia and many European countries. I have found from personal experience that Mountain Dew isn't as widely available in most European countries as larger brands such as Fanta, Coke, Sprite etc, and you will likely only find a small section in a supermarket dedicated to selling Mountain Dew. If you cant buy it in your country, ebay.com would be the place to go.

The easiest source of Mountain Dew in the UK is from shops that sell imported drinks and candy from America. A list of these can be found under the links section of this website. Alternatively some smaller news agents (especially in London) source their stock from cheaper suppliers in Europe or the Middle East where Mountain Dew is available. Because of this, sightings of Mountain Dew have been seen in these "regular" shops, although the version sold is very rarely the original American one.

Honestly, I think they will, but i don’t know when. Mountain Dew is one of Pepsi Co's most successful brands and for them to ignore the UK soft drinks market is a huge missed opportunity.
