Thanks for visiting. This website was created to raise public awareness of Mountain Dew, and for fans of the drink to find out about what they can do to get Mountain Dew relaunched in the UK.
Mountain Dew is a caffeinated, sweet, citrus-flavoured soft drink produced by PepsiCo, Inc. When removed from its characteristic green bottle, Mountain Dew is bright yellow-green and semi-opaque. When it was available in the UK it was made and distributed under license by "Britvic".
Mountain Dew was available in the UK in the late 90's, but Pepsico UK decided to pull it from shops because "sales were not as great as anticipated". Keep in mind though, that it was only available here for a short period of time nealy 10 years ago and current trends change. I'm not sure which marketing company advises Pepsi, but I think its time they tried to release it again.
There still seems to be a huge following of Mountain Dew In the UK with fans regularly discussing it and buying it from specialist American food websites. For more information on how to buy Mountain Dew in the UK, visit the links section.
The British public still see it advertised all the time on TV because Mountain Dew is one of the sponsors for the Xgames and numerous other sporting events. It gets mentioned in "The Simpsons", and can be seen in many movies. Public awareness is higher now than it has ever been, yet Pepsi still don't think there is a market for it. Please let them know they are wrong.

There are many different types of Mountain Dew available in the US market ranging from diet versions, caffeine free, Orange, Cherry, through to limited edition promotional flavours.
In The US, the drink is mainly marketed toward males in the 12-30 year old demographic group, creating a connection to outdoor activities like extreme sports and to the video game culture.
Although Mountain Dew is a hugely well known brand in the USA and in other parts of the world, it still relatively unknown in the UK.
While it was being sold in the UK it had a very different marketing campaign than the one used by the rest of the world. The slogan "Wild Colour Smooth Taste", a different logo and incredibly surreal TV ads could have only added to its demise. Why Pepsi didn't just use the already successful "Do the Dew" extreme sports angle is still a mystery.
Compare the above UK commercial with the highly successfuly "Do the Dew" US ads here.
Besides the alternative advertising compaign, the version sold in shops in the UK was also slightly different to the one in the US. It didn't contain the same quantity of caffeine, it used regular sugar instead of corn syrup and didn't contain brominated vegetable oil (as its banned in the UK). All of these factors (especially the reduced caffeine) could have effected its taste, it's popularity and its eventual decline.
